Paper 3 Practice Step 3

Hopefully by now most of you have taken the time to outline your initial answer to the prompt posted January 31 and offered commendations and recommendations to two of your peers as well as having heard from at least one of your classmates.  

Step 3 is to reply under your original posting to the comments offered and offer a reflection for how you would improve your original outline based on the IB Markscheme.  We will discuss in class Tuesday March 7th.  The guide for this question:

26. Compare and contrast the impact of the First World War on the civilian populations in two countries up to 1918.

The question requires that candidates give an account of the similarities and differences of the impact of the First World War on the civilian populations in two countries up to 1918, referring to both throughout. Candidates may refer to similar experiences of citizens in terms of their rights and freedoms being curbed due to government policies. Candidates may refer to citizens being exposed to intense nationalist feeling and euphoria early on. Candidates may refer to different levels of intensity and disruption of daily life across social, economic or political factors. Candidates may refer to the impact varying for urban and rural populations. Candidates may refer to similarities or differences in terms of economic mobilization and impact. Both similarities and differences must be clearly indicated but there does not need to be an equal focus on each.

Paper 3 Practice 1 Step 2

Once you have completed your outline and it is posted, take a look at your colleagues' outlines. Your entry must be complete before you can comment on one of your peers. 

Choose two to respond to. 

If somoeone already has two comments, move on to some one else.  You have everyone from 4th and 8th hour to choose from.

Please look at them in the context of the prompt and give two points of constructive criticism.  It should not be just "that was good" or "eeewww", you will need to provide substantive comment.  What works and why you think its good.   What should be given more consideration? Or what else might they want to take into account for their answer.  

One criticism should be positive - what is a "good" or in the words of IB "best fit" or "commendation"

One criticism should be a polish point, or a place to improve, or a point of clarification or in IB language "recommendation"

This should be completed by Thursday 2/16.  Step Three will be posted, with IB's markscheme and you will review, respond and revise.  Step Three will be due Wednesday 3/1.
